marcellus & stephanie casey, founders
Marcellus & Stephanie Casey are the vision and heart behind their nonprofit Championship Greatness. The gym’s journey began when they moved from Brookside to Kansas City’s East Side, where Marcellus started training a few teenagers out of a small garage on Linwood. What began in 2019 with a few kids has now grown into a full gym—where those very same kids are now serving as the coaches, mentoring the next generation coming up behind them.
Within just 18 months, the Caseys took a leap of faith to open Champ Fit KC, creating a space where boxing is more than a sport—it’s a tool for building discipline, confidence, and community. Today their free youth competitive boxing program trains kids rigorously, teaching lessons that last far beyond the ring. The Caseys are committed to ensuring these young athletes are well-coached, well-mentored, and supported by leaders who are equipped to make a lasting impact.
they offer a welcoming environment for every fitness level through champfit. With USA Boxing–certified coaches and years of experience training athletes, the team is passionate about teaching the fundamentals of boxing in a way that builds strength, confidence, and resilience—whether you’re stepping into the ring for the first time or looking for high-intensity training to take your fitness further. Every paid session helps fund the youth program, so members know their workouts are fueling something bigger than themselves.
Outside the gym, the Caseys’ ministry extends to helping athletes, coaches, and families live fully and authentically. Marcellus serves as the Chaplain for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Stephanie leads the wives’ Bible study, walking alongside families in the NFL community. Together, they guide others through neighborhood ministry, in-home Sunday worship gatherings, and chaplain work providing guidance and support to athletes and their families.
For the Caseys, it’s all connected. Boxing, mentorship, and ministry are different expressions of the same mission: building relationships, living fully, and growing spiritually. What started in a garage has become a movement—one that continues to shape lives in Kansas City and beyond.
